May is here and we are counting down until Marvel’s Special Presentation: The Punisher: One Last Kill arrives on Disney + on May 12th!
Here is what we know about The Punisher: One Last Kill.
The official tagline about the show from Marvel states, “As Frank Castle searches for meaning beyond revenge, an unexpected force pulls him back into the fight.” This special will interweave with season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again, connecting Frank to the same time and place.
The official trailer for One Last Kill premiered on April 9, beginning with Frank alone, plagued by memories of his past and most notably those of his late daughter, Lisa Barbara Castle.
Curtis Hoyle, the former Navy SARC-turned-PTSD support figure from The Punisher series appears to Frank in his delirious state pleading with him to confide in him.
Then we see Frank back in combat, charging through fire and taking down armed enemies, making his way between danger and civilians without hesitation. The trailer closes in on his chest with his signature skull front and center and ready to dive into the battle ahead.
Per Entertainment Weekly‘s interview with Brad Winderbaum, the head of Marvel Television, he describes the story as “really special,” highlighting that it’s a “visceral, psychologically complex, unforgiving, no-holds-barred version of Frank,” where the character actually turns “his back to the audience.”
Winderbaum continued, “And nothing is easy and all violence has a cost, and we’re going to see that cost. I’m grateful that they’re letting me go to the places that I really want to go.”
With less than two weeks to go, there’s no better way to pass the time than brushing up on the Punisher, especially with his appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day coming up.
