Matt Hagen takes center stage!
Though Clayface has had a few names and back stories over the years, he was first introduced in 1940 as one of Batman’s early antagonists and a washed-up actor turned criminal.
We’ve gotten a taste of what to expect in this new rendition of Clayface in the teaser trailer. Based on flashbacks, Matt appears to be a struggling actor making his way to the top. We are first introduced to him in a hospital bed with a bloody, bandaged face, and one of his eye’s peering in the distance. The scenes continue with showing the attack that leads him to receive a highly experimental medical procedure after his face is disfigured. And the rest leans into the character’s horrifying iconography from DC Comics history.
We are excited to see Clayface finally make it to the big screen. However, this isn’t E for everyone, the tone leans heavily into horror, which makes it a perfect fit for an October release. And Clayface is set in the new DCU, expanding the world seen in James Gunn’s Superman, and the upcoming Supergirl, releasing this summer!
Check out a couple of titles to hold you over until the movie releases on October 23, 2026!
