MICHAEL LAWRENCE FLEISHER Fleisher was a writer known for his DC Comics of the 1970s and 1980s, particularly for the characters Spectre and Jonah Hex. Michael also wrote three volumes of The Encyclopaedia of Comic Books Heroes. His first story published in 1972 “Death at Castle Dunbar” in Secrets of Sinister House #5. Went on to write for House of Mystery and House of Secrets. He scripted Shade, the Changing Man in the late 1970s, and contributed to the Batman mythos in the early 1980s. He was responsible for writing the origin of The Penguin.
LARRY YAKATA Larry Yakata is a multi-time world and national judo champion and a former coach of the United States Olympic judo team. He received a Masters in English Literature from Columbia University and has written for publications including the New York Times and The Savage Sword of Conan and Ultraman.
ERNIE CHAN 1940 – 2012 Born 1940, Ernie Chan was a Filipino-America comics artist. He studied with John Buscema and worked as his inker on Conan, and also as John’s brother inker on The Incredible Hulk. As an inker he worked on horror titles such as: Ghosts, House of Mystery, and The Unexpected. His credits are legion and include among others, Detective Comics, Doctor Strange, Kull the Destoryer, Power Man and Iron Fist, Batman, Superman, Swamp Thing, Jonah Hex and Captain Carrot and His Amazing Crew. In 2024 he was inducted into the Inkwell Awards Joe Sinnott Hall of Fame.
GARY KWAPISZ Born 1961. Gary is considered to be one of the defining Conan artists of the 1980s. Known for his striking black and white artwork, he came to prominence on Savage Sword of Conan and would go on to draw Wolverine, Ka-Zar, Moon Knight, Hawkworld, Punisher War Journal, Airboy, Badger. He is also highly regarded for his two graphic novels on the American Civil War.
