The second half of Matt Wagner, Steven T. Seagle, and Guy Davis’ acclaimed DC/Vertigo series is collected in a massive Compendium collection!
In the celebrated 1990s series Sandman Mystery Theatre, millionaire Wesley Dodds becomes the Sandman to fight injustice in 1930s New York City, going after kidnappers, blackmailers and predators who prey on rich socialites.
This reinvention of the Golden Age Sandman character quickly drew praise from comics critics and fans, and lasted 70 issues, mostly from the team of writers Matt Wagner and Steven T. Seagle, and artist Guy Davis.
This Compendium collections the second half of the series, following 2023’s Sandman Mystery Theatre Compendium One. In these stories, Wesley Dodds uncovers the origin of one of his oldest adversaries, unravels the mystery of a series of brutal murders amid the 1939 New York World's Fair, encounters a brash young pilot called Blackhawk, and more.
Collects Sandman Mystery Theatre #37-70, and Vertigo: Winter's Edge #1-2.
Matt Wagner has enjoyed a career in comics for over twenty years. Born and educated in Pennsylvania, his first published work was a short story that would introduce one of comicdom's most respected creator-owned characters—the mastermind assassin Grendel. Best known for this epic creation and his other, more personal allegory, Mage, Matt has also worked on a variety of established characters. These include his groundbreaking work on the character Batman villain Two-Face in the graphic novel Faces, as well as a five-year stint developing and generating stories for the fan-favorite Vertigo title, Sandman Mystery Theatre. He also wrote the Doctor Mid-Nite miniseries for DC Comics and served as the regular cover artist on the Kevin Smith-penned relaunch of Green Arrow.
