ROY THOMAS
Roy joined Marvel as a writer and editor under Stan Lee, scripting key runs of nearly every Marvel title: The Amazing Spider-Man, The Avengers, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, The Sub-Mariner, Thor, The X-Men and more. He wrote the first ten years of Marvel’s Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan; and launched the Defenders, Iron Fist, The Invaders and Warlock. At DC, he developed All-Star Squadron, Infinity Inc. and related titles, proving instrumental in reviving the Golden Age Justice Society of America. He co-scripted the sword-and-sorcery films Fire and Ice and Conan the Destroyer. Throughout it all, Thomas has edited the award-winning magazine Alter Ego, contributing heartily to the research and history of the medium.
LARRY HAMA
Larry Hama is a comic book writer, artist, actor and musician who has worked in the fields of entertainment and publishing since the 1960s. During the 1970s, he had minor roles on M*A*S*H and Saturday Night Live, and appeared on Broadway in two roles in the original 1976 production of Stephen Sondheim's Pacific Overtures. He is best known as a writer and editor for Marvel Comics, where he edited Conan the Barbarian and Savage Sword of Conan and wrote the series G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero. He has also written for Wolverine, Nth Man: the Ultimate Ninja, and Elektra. He created the character Bucky O'Hare, which was developed into a comic book, toy line, and cartoon.
CHUCK DIXON
Chuck Dixon is a prolific comic book writer, best known for his work on action-packed series such as Batman, Nightwing, and The Punisher. Renowned for his fast-paced, gritty storytelling, Dixon’s contributions to Savage Sword highlight his talent for crafting intense, character-driven sword-and-sorcery adventures.
ROLAND GREEN
Roland J. Green was a prolific fantasy and science fiction author whose work spanned novels, short stories, and comic books. A longtime contributor to heroic fantasy literature, Green wrote numerous novels set in established fantasy universes, including the Conan the Barbarian novels for Tor Books. His work is known for its strong sense of adventure, vivid worldbuilding, and respect for the traditions established by Robert E. Howard. In addition to his prose fiction, Green contributed scripts to Marvel’s Conan comics during the 1990s revival period, bringing his deep familiarity with the Hyborian Age to the page.
JOHN BUSCEMA
Best known for his run on the series The Avengers and Silver Surfer, and for over 200 stories featuring the sword-and-sorcery hero Conan the Barbarian, which he took the pencilling from Barry Windsor Smith. In addition, he pencilled at least one issue of nearly every major Marvel title, including long runs on two of the company's top magazines, Fantastic Four and Thor.
In 1978 he collaborated with Stan Lee to produce the book How to Draw Comics the Marvel Way which has never been out of print and still remains one of the best books available on the subject of drawing comics.
His list of credits runs into the hundreds and includes such legendary characters as Doc Savage, The Punisher, Daredevil, Captain America, Deathlok and Tarzan.
He was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2002.
STEFANO RAFFAELE
Stefano Raffaele is an Italian comic book artist whose atmospheric storytelling and expressive character work have made him a distinctive presence in international comics. Raffaele has illustrated a wide range of titles for both European and American publishers, including work for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, and BOOM! Studios. His credits include Batman, Birds of Prey, and numerous creator-owned and genre projects.
CLAUDIO CASTELLINI
Claudio Castellini is an acclaimed Italian comic book artist renowned for his highly detailed, dynamic style and powerful figure work. Castellini first gained attention in Europe with his work for Sergio Bonelli Editore on the science-fiction series Nathan Never. His striking artwork later brought him to American comics, where he illustrated characters such as Superman, Batman, and Silver Surfer. Known for his dramatic compositions and meticulous linework, Castellini’s covers and illustrations have become favorites among comic collectors around the world.
STEVE LIEBER
Steve Lieber is an American comic book artist and writer known for his expressive storytelling and clean, character-driven artwork. Over the course of his career, Lieber has illustrated numerous titles for major publishers including Marvel and DC, working on series such as Detective Comics, Whiteout, and The Fix. He has collaborated with many acclaimed writers and is widely respected for his ability to balance strong visual clarity with dynamic action.
GEOFF ISHERWOOD
Geoff Isherwood is a veteran comic book artist known for his strong storytelling and powerful character work across fantasy, superhero, and science fiction titles. Over his long career he has illustrated numerous projects for Marvel Comics, including Doctor Strange, Silver Surfer, and several Conan the Barbarian mini-series. Isherwood’s art combines classic adventure storytelling with bold, expressive action, making him particularly well suited to the brutal battles and dark sorcery of Conan’s world.
