Do you know a child with a favourite storytime character? Crochet them a hooded blanket, then settle down to complete the entourage!

Bedtime bookworms will love snuggling up and listening to their favourite story in a cosy hooded blanket. Bring storytime to life as they act out the characters - will they be a goodie or a baddie, Little Red Riding Hood or the wolf?

Lynne Rowe's latest new book has ten fun, fairytale projects to crochet, including a deer, a dragon, a lion and a unicorn. Each blanket can be made in two sizes: for toddlers (age 2 to 4) and for young children (age 5 to 7).

Along with crochet techniques, there are suggestions for varying the yarn colour to create a different character (changing a polar bear into a brown bear, for example) and you can choose between a rounded or a pointed hood. Lynne has also designed a strip of matching bunting to accompany each project.

Every blanket tells a story, with pockets on the sides for snuggly paws and different tails. Perfect for unwinding for a bedtime story and animating the oral tradition of storytelling - little listeners, as well as their parents, will find themselves enchanted.

From Postcard Reviews Jun 2020 -

These cute and gorgeous designs will make every bedtime something to look forward to for every child. Made in two sizes.. Ages 2 - 4 and 5 - 7, they have a character theme from favourite childhood stories. The technique guide makes it easy for even a beginner of crochet to be able to make a blanket and I loved the added embellishments such as bunting and pom poms.
The photography is amazing, it will encourage and inspire you to have a go and create something fun.
I'm sure each design can be adapted for a unique style for your child's individuality, but each one is clever and imaginative.
Perfect for unwinding for a bedtime story and animating the oral tradition of storytelling little listeners, as well as their parents, will find themselves enchanted.

Inspirations Newsletter - July 2020

Our minds have turned to blankets, and we have got the perfect book if you’re planning on starting a cosy blanket for that little person in your life. Lynne Rowe’s ‘Fairytale Blankets to Crochet’ is filled with easy-to-hook, corner-to-corner projects which simply explode with cuddle-factor! It doesn’t matter what they’re into – unicorns, wolves, dragons or princesses, one of these hooded blankets will surely suit. Each project includes a pattern for matching bunting, so the lucky recipient can decorate their room before snuggling down with their blanket and their favourite story. Any child would be enchanted to receive one of these crocheted blankets, there’s no doubt. But there’s probably an adult or two out there who would be just as eager to cuddle up with a really good book, a hot cup of tea and a snuggly warm fairytale blanket over their knee. Just don’t tell the kids…

The Loopy Lamb - August 2020

Fairytale Blankets to Crochet is written using UK crochet terminology but a UK to US term conversion chart and a list of stitch abbreviationsis are availabe via a flap inside the front cover of the book. This is the first time that I’ve seen a flap utilized in this manner in a crochet book and I can definitely see how this could be handy! The flap can be used as a book mark or, keep it over top of the page you’re working on for a handy reference any time you need it. No flipping back to the reference section for you! It goes with you wherever you go in this book. The book is bright, colourful and whimsical. My kids have not left me alone about making them each a blanket since I took the book out of the book so I’d personally call the patterns “kid-approved”.
