Wren James is a Carnegie-longlisted British author of many young adult novels and was previously published under the name Lauren James. Their books include Last Seen Online, The Quiet at the End of the World, The Loneliest Girl in the Universe, and The Next Together, and they have sold more than two hundred thousand copies worldwide in eight languages. A Royal Literary Fund Fellow and the story consultant for seasons two and three of Netflix’s Heartstopper, Wren James is the founder of the Climate Fiction Writers League and works as a consultant on climate storytelling for museums, production companies, major brands, and publishers, with a focus on optimism and hope. They have a master’s from the University of Nottingham, where they studied chemistry and physics, and run a queer writers’ group in Coventry.
