Tony Kirkham, MBE, VMH, cared for the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, collection of 14,000 trees for more than forty years, retiring in 2021 as Head of Arboretum, Gardens, and Horticulture Services. He was awarded the Royal Horticultural Society’s Victoria Medal of Honor in 2019. He has written and coauthored numerous books on trees, has been featured on TV programs with Judi Dench, and has presented two television series for the BBC. Tony Kirkham lives in England.

Katie Scott graduated from University of Brighton in 2011. Her work draws influences from traditional medical and botanical illustration in both aesthetic and subject matter. It also plays with the ideas of scientific uncertainty and speculation, fabricating the inner and outer workings of the world. Her illustrations depict a familiar yet fantasy vision of plants, humans, and minerals. Katie Scott lives in England.
