Clement Clarke Moore (1779–1863) was an American academic and poet who is best known for the poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas,” now more commonly referred to as “ ’Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

Meticulous research informs all of his illustration work, and his acclaimed picture books include The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey by Susan Wojciechowski, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, and When Jessie Came Across the Sea by Amy Hest. Among many honors and awards, P.J. Lynch has received the Kate Greenaway Medal twice and the Christopher Medal three times. He lives in Dublin, Ireland.
