Myth-making writer Al Ewing continues his unpredictable saga of the God of Thunder!
The Odinson stood at a gate in a dark wood. In front of the gate stood Skurge the Executioner, bloodaxe in hand, waiting for battle. And if Thor won the combat, then behind that same gate stood Utgardhall and the final death that awaited him — the death he fought for. Because behind that gate also stands the Utgard-Loki, who the Odinson had never yet defeated. And alongside the Elder Trickster, his pantheon — beginning with Nrgl, Lord of Murder-in-Darkness. Even if the All-Father can somehow reach the middle of the Unforgiving City, he must face the beast at the center of the maze: Kemur, who is bull and hawk and serpent, who is the fire and the sword. When Kemur and Thor Odinson meet on the battlefield, perhaps neither will survive!

Writer Al Ewing began his career on the British anthology 2000 AD. Since breaking into American comics, he has written Jennifer Blood and spin-off series The Ninjettes for Dynamite Entertainment, and the Age of Ultron tie-in issues of Avengers Assemble for Marvel Comics. Ewing’s novels include the Pax Britannia series as well as The Fictional Man. With artist Greg Land, he relaunched Marvel’s Mighty Avengers; for All-New Marvel NOW!, gave the god of mischief a new assignment in Loki: Agent of Asgard. Ewing then took revamped versions of New Avengers and Ultimates, debuted U.S.Avengers; and joined the writing team for the “No Surrender” storyline in Avengers, which brought the Hulk back from the dead. His subsequent titles include Valkyrie, Guardians of the Galaxy, Defenders, the event series Empyre and the critically revered smash hit Immortal Hulk. Ewing has cemented his place in the Krakoan era of the X-Men titles comics with S.W.O.R.D. and X-Men: Red.
Jan Bazaldua brought her hyperkinetic art style to Spider-Man for a star-making run with writer Brian Michael Bendis as the young Miles Morales took on the all-new Sinister Six. She burnished her reputation on titles including Mr. and Mrs. X and Loki, and her fast-growing list of Marvel credits now includes X-Force, Winter Guard and a trip to the far-off galaxy of Star Wars.
