The first chapter of Star Wars' return to Marvel concludes, as Kieron Gillen and Greg Pak's blockbuster runs are collected in one volume! Jedha was left in ruins when the Holy City was annihilated - now, as Queen Trios' forces move in to strip what's left, the rebels struggle to preserve the planet for its survivors! Leia and her allies seek to strengthen their forces, but can they liberate the water planet of Mon Cala? Or will all hope be lost at the hands of Darth Vader? With the Empire resurgent and Vader on a ruthless hunt for Luke Skywalker, our heroes go on the run - but is romance in the air? And can the beleaguered rebels find safe haven in the icy wastelands of Hoth? Collecting STAR WARS (2015) #38-75, STAR WARS ANNUAL (2016) #4 and STAR WARS: EMPIRE ASCENDANT.
An award-winning critic and journalist, Kieron Gillen wrote for organizations such as PC Gamer, The Guardian, Rock, Paper, Shotgun and WIRED before turning his attention to comics. His previous credits include the critically lauded Phonogram with frequent creative partner Jamie McKelvie, as well as Thor, S.W.O.R.D. and Generation Hope. Gillen relaunched two long-standing Marvel series in Uncanny X-Men and Journey into Mystery before again teaming with McKelvie for an acclaimed take on Young Avengers. Gillen turned his attention to Iron Man for Marvel NOW! and proved the perfect scribe to put carefully chosen words into the mouth of a legendary Star Wars villain in Darth Vader. Gillen introduced Doctor Aphra into the galaxy far, far away in those pages, and continues her adventures in her own series.

Film director and screenwriter Greg Pak’s first feature, the sci-fi anthology Robot Stories, won 35 awards; he broke into the comics industry when his agent sent Marvel the screenplay. After writing a Warlock reboot, Pak made a splash with the X-Men: Phoenix — Endsong limited series and a lengthy run on Incredible Hulk, highlighted by the “Planet Hulk” storyline and the World War Hulk crossover. In addition to the acclaimed Magneto: Testament and Red Skull: Incarnate limited series, a War Machine revival and the retitled Incredible Hulks, Pak has written Dynamite’s Battlestar Galactica and contributed to Secret Identities: The Asian American Superhero Anthology. His efforts with co-writer Fred Van Lente include Incredible Hercules, Herc, Heroic Age: Prince of Power, an Alpha Flight relaunch and the Chaos War crossover. Pak introduced Amadeus Cho as a new Green Goliath in The Totally Awesome Hulk and delivered mutant mayhem in Weapon X.

Working for the Marvel UK imprint led Spanish artist Salvador Larroca to a regular gig on Ghost Rider. He graduated to Fantastic Four, alongside one of his favorite writers, Chris Claremont. From 2000 to 2006, Larroca depicted Marvel’s mutants across Uncanny X-Men, X-Men and X-Treme X-Men. Following a stint on Amazing Spider-Man, Larroca brought his maturing style to a lengthy run on Invincible Iron Man and the X-Men: No More Humans original graphic novel. Upon the return of Star Wars to Marvel, Larroca turned to the dark side with Darth Vader before taking on the flagship Star Wars title.

Talented newcomer Andrea Broccardo has quickly found his feet at Marvel on projects including Kanan and the “Amazing Grace” storyline of Amazing Spider-Man. His work hit the big leagues in high-profile event tie-in book Civil War II: X-Men.

Angel Unzueta has demonstrated his flair for super hero action with iconic Avengers, illustrating Captain America: Sam Wilson, Iron Man and the team-up book Captain America/Iron Man. His credits also include Marvel’s Star Wars series and a lengthy run on Star Wars: Poe Dameron.
