Joker: Folie à Deux Teaser Trailer Shows Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix Caught In A Bad Romance

By Matthew Klein | April 10 2024 | Graphic NovelsPop Culture Prose

Rah, rah-ah-ah-ah we have our first look at what could be the biggest blockbuster of the fall as the first teaser for “Joker: Folie à Deux” has dropped! Following the events of “Joker” Joaquin Phoenix reprises his Oscar-Winning role of Arthur Fleck, (who becomes Batman’s arch nemesis, the clown prince of crime, the Joker) being locked up in Arkham Asylum until an unusual meet-cute with a fellow prisoner who’ll become his partner in multiple definitions of the word: Harley Quinn (Lady Gaga). Anticipation for this jukebox musical sequel to the billion dollar box office generating hit from 2019 has been high, especially since Gaga’s casting was announced. While actual details of the plot are scarce, the grim and gritty footage we see here gives us glimpses of what the sequel’s much larger budget ($200 million as compared to $65 million of the first film) is going to bring us. “Joker: Folie à Deux” will bring its act to theatres exactly five years after the original’s on October 4, 2024. If you want to learn more about the Joker’s twisted sense of humor and discover why Harley Quinn has become one of the most beloved characters in pop culture then check out some of their essential reads below!

An original hardcover graphic novel that tells the story of one very dark night in Gotham City—from the creative team behind the graphic novel Lex Luthor: Man of Steel.  The Joker has been mysteriously released from Arkham Asylum, and he's none to happy about what's happened to his Gotham City rackets while he's been "away." What follows is a harrowing night of revenge, murder and manic crime as only The Joker can deliver it, as he brutally takes back his stolen assets from The Penguin, The Riddler, Two-Face, Killer Croc and others. Brian Azzarello brings to The Joker all the visceral intensity and criminal insight that has made his Vertigo graphic novel series 100 Bullets one of the most critically-acclaimed and award-winning series in all of comics.
