After a lot of anticipation we finally have our first look at the new Disney+ Star Wars show The Acolyte which will start streaming on June 4th! ‘The Acolyte’ will take place roughly a hundred years before the prequel trilogy (shoutout to it being the 25th anniversary for The Phantom Menace) and is the furthest back in time any live action has taken fans. The official logline for the series tells us, “An investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems.”
The feature begins with Lee as a Jedi master teaching a class of younglings before cutting to Carrie-Ann Moss’s character being tracked by the assassin! Soon, Jedi begin their hunt across the galaxy and we get a treat to an epic scene of a group’s multicolor light sabers being unsheathed to confront the killer. Those yellow sabers are a dead giveaway for the time period.
