At the 35th Annual GLAAD Awards a scoundrel in a galaxy far far away took the spotlight: Star Wars: Doctor Aphra from Marvel Comics received the award for Outstanding Comic Book! Launched in May 2020, and just wrapped up after a spectacular forty issue run, series writer Alyssa Wong along with a crew of swashbuckling artists including Marika Cresta and Minkyu Jung crafted cunning pulse pounding adventures for the fan-favorite rogue archaeologist first introduced back in 2015 as part of the initial launch of Star Wars at Marvel. Doctor Aphra became the first character not featured in the Star Wars films to helm her own comic series. She’s been a criminal archaeologist, considered a war criminal, worked for (and betrayed) Darth Vader, and become a beloved symbol to the LGBTQ+ fandom as one of the first openly lesbian characters in the the franchise’s history. Now is the perfect time to join the gang of the award-winning Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra and aid in her anti-hero escapades!
