Eric Heisserer grew up in Oklahoma where his father taught ancient history at Oklahoma University. He began his writing career in 1995 with various tabletop game modules, and migrated to screenwriting in 2000 when he sold his first feature script to Artisan Entertainment. In late 2008 he was brought in to write A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010) for New Line Cinema, followed by the prequel of The Thing (2011) for Universal and Final Destination 5 (2011). In 2013 he made his directorial debut with the film Hours. Most recently he wrote the screenplay for the acclaimed film Arrival (2016).
"Shaper is a fresh new take on the sci-fi genre, as though there are some familiar elements, the dramatic way in which writer and artist introduce us to this world makes it something completely original. The character depth, and elaborate plot developments will also entice readers, with the twists near the end having them returning for more.” -Unleash the Fanboy

"Shaper is an ambitious new title that aims to want to wow you. The things you see the Shapers known are astonishing creatures, and knowing this is a world where depths of space have been reached, they can turn into anything. It feels like the possibilities with this series is endless, and from here you should feel like everything you see is new."  - Geeked Out Nation

"Shaper #1 is an exciting adventure that details an on-going struggle between the persecuted Shapers and the Caliphate. Eric Heisserer is able to provide vital information whether it is characterization or world building through a creative opening hook, although there are a couple places where the writing is a little forced to detail certain world-building points. Filipe Massafera's artwork is thrilling to look at and the transformation sequences are top notch. Shaper #1 creates a compelling and unique story that I hope to enjoy for many issues to come!” - Adventures In Poor Taste

"Heisserer clearly knows what's going on in Shaper #1 and appears to be ready to bring the reader in on the action as well, but the first issue moves at a breakneck pace to get that story set-up." -Omnicomic

"I do like me some sci-fi action, and that’s exactly what Shaper #1 delivers.” - This Podcast Sucks
