Harvey Kurtzman, the legendary creator of and first editor of MAD Magazine, wrote many of Woods’ classic war tales.

Wally Wood was born in 1927 and is recognized as one of the finest comic book artists of all time. He is noted for his work for EC Comics, especially the science-fiction titles and classic covers, as well as their groundbreaking MAD comics (where he drew the iconic “Superduperman” parody in the first issue). He handled the art on the last story of Will Eisner’s classic “The Spirit in Outer Space” storyline. He would continue to produce extraordinary work for Warren Publishing, Tower Publishing (Thunder Agents), Marvel (Daredevil), and many more. Wood died in 1981 at the age of 54.
