As the Empire’s grip tightens on the galaxy, the stirrings of a rebellion begin in the Mon Cala system. The fearsome Darth Vader knows order must be maintained at all costs — and this time the job of snuffing out hope falls to Vader, his Inquisitors...and Wilhuff Tarkin! At their hands, a resistance will crumble and the seas will weep! But when the time comes for Tarkin to repay a long-standing debt to Vader, settling what is owed will require every last bit of his cunning! Soon, Emperor Palpatine rewards Vader with a gift — one that will take him back to Mustafar, place of his greatest defeat. But as a brutal fortress rises from the scorched earth, the planet’s inhabitants will not take this desecration lightly! Plus: Join Anakin Skywalker, the young Padawan who will one day become Vader, on a formative adventure with Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi!

Based in Brooklyn, New York, Charles Soule has written novels, comics, screenplays and stories of all types. Also a musician and an attorney, Soule somehow finds time to be one of the busiest writers in comics. Among his Marvel credits are Thunderbolts, She-Hulk and the landmark Death of Wolverine, as well as its immediate follow-up (Wolverines) and its eventual sequel (Return of Wolverine). Soule brought his legal expertise to the pages of Daredevil and assembled a blockbuster squad in Astonishing X-Men. Following solo series starring Darth Vader, Lando Calrissian and Poe Dameron, Soule turned his attention to the iconic rebel crew in a new volume of the flagship Star Wars title, and he was one of the select group of authors chosen to chart the unseen era of the High Republic.
Artist Giuseppe Camuncoli made his Marvel Comics debut in 2002 on Spider-Man’s Tangled Web. His subsequent Marvel credits include the limited series X-Infernus, which re-established Illyana Rasputin as a central character in the X-Universe. He later helped launch Wolverine’s son into his own title with Daken: Dark Wolverine, and teamed with writer Dan Slott on Amazing Spider-Man and Superior Spider-Man. Camuncoli illustrated the entire 25-issue run of writer Charles Soule’s Star Wars: Darth Vader.
Marco Checchetto’s early contributions to revivals of Marvel Comics Presents and Squadron Supreme revealed him as one of the industry’s top new talents. Checchetto has made his mark on both the Marvel Universe — with runs on Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil and Punisher — and a galaxy far far away with Star Wars: Obi-Wan and Anakin and the post-Return of the Jedi thriller Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens — Shattered Empire.
